Lewis Jowers is working on a documentary about Children playing football at a young age and what their chances are of going onto a professional football career. I wasnt supposed to be on his crew, but his Camera op has been busy with work and other things, and since i don't live too far out the way i said i would stand in and help. Over the next few weeks i'll be filming his interviews and taking production stills for my file. I'll update with images in a few weeks.

Pube In The Butter

Pube in the Butter is being written and directed by Chris Coles. His projects a little different to all the rest. Its a Sitcom, and he wants to shoot it live in the studio and he's building a set. Hes showed us his plans for a set. Its looking like its going to be a fun shoot. Chris has asked me to be one of his camera ops in the studio and his main camera op whenever we are on location. His script is coming along well and he just seems to be getting on with things by himself. He seems organised so his shoot should be really fun. He brought in a model of his set and we'll be going through plans over the next few weeks.

The Pen Snatcher

The Pen Snatcher is probably the final project i'm most enthusiastic about. the concept is just so bizzare and the script brilliant. It sounds like its going to be great fun playing with the atmosphere of things, and generating some wonderful imagery and tension. Its basically a wannebe Stephen King story. A guy who has a habit of stealing pens now has them come back to haunt him in a really surreal world. Scott is a little nervous as a first time director, but Myself, Craig and Chris have been offering him advice all the way through it so far whenever we've discussed plans.

Locations are all simple enough, we're shooting up in Castle Eden Dene for the forest scenes. and the rest is in local locations in hartlepool.

Where we've struggled is finding our lead actor. Scott had his friend Gary in mind, we met him and did a short photoshoot with him and discussed plans, but personally, i don't think he's that great. He said himself not to expect Robert De Nero, but he also said he has trouble remembering lines and he never seemed to follow directions.

If You're Watching This

If You're Watching This is a script Dan Ferguson and Charles Keen have been working on. Its a comedy about a guy who has a near death experience after he has been caught masturbating by his parents, so he begins making videos of his last will just incase another near-death experience is around the corner. We follow him through his life as he makes these videos every few years. Its got some genuine humour to the script which i think will make a fun film to make and edit.

Intro to Final Project at Uni

 In the final projects students usually specialise in a certain stage of filmmaking. For my final project my choice of specialism is going to be Editing. Since starting the course it has always been my intention to specialize in it as in every production I’ve worked on, it’s been my favorite part of the process and it’s generally what I consider myself best at. I haven’t yet had the opportunity to specialize in editing yet as a lot of the directors last year wanted to edit their own projects, but I think a dedicated editor is something the group needs after all the projects where people have done everything themselves and haven’t quite hit the potential they should’ve had.


I will be editing on Scott Thompsons “The Pen Snatcher”, Chris Coles's production “A Pube In the Butter”,and  Charles Keen has approached me about his film "If You're Watching This" I'm also a backup Camera Op on Lewis Jowers's "One in a Thousand"


While most of the pre-production is being done, i'll be learning to use Avid Media Composer as a new challenge in editing since i'm already confident in Premiere Pro. And i'll be turning up to shoots and taking prodution stills with my camera once production starts, then for post production i'll me in the driving seat. I'm looking forward to it since theyres a range of different styles of film being made. I'll update as the projects go on. Thanks Guys!

Super Joe!

I just remembered that i never got around to uploading Super Joe when it was complete. I was hoping it would get submitted to the RTS awards after the summer but the Tutors basically said it wasn't good enough and ignored it, quite annoying and discouraging really. I held off uploading it because we were going to submit it into some competitions and festivals but we didnt get anywhere with it, so here it is in all its glory!

Its probably the most complete film ive made so far, and even though the after effects work might be shoddy, it works in the style of a cheesy 60s superhero type vibe that we were going for and its only a small fraction of the film. I was actually really proud of it and it was probably the most heart and soul ive put into any of my work, and the audience response when it got shown in the cinema was fantastic. The audience seemed to get the type of humour it was and it generated alot of laughs. It definitely seemed to be the favourite of the night, which i guess to me was a bigger win than having the tutors approval of how "good" it was.

The Heist

The Heist was a film i made for my Minor Project in my final year of University. It was supposed to be a personal project where each member of the group had to direct a film each, I'd had this idea for a while with a friend, and figured it would be simple enough for me to organise and shoot by myself, I only needed Craig and Chris to step in as Camera Op and Sound Op, and they did a good enough job! In return I camera op'd for both of their projects. Now it wasnt a huge project like Super Joe was and I honestly didnt really think about blogging about it, Not much happens in my life to be worth blogging about in between my filmmaking and photography phases.

Now, personally i'm really happy with how this film turned out, it was pretty much exactly how I imagined it, besides a couple of more over-the-top stunts that were in the script that we had to work around/cut out, and I never found the time to Film a minor scene on an office location that i'd forgotten about and the actors lived quite a way away so it was impractical to get them back for a tiny shoot. I think the film works on its own merits and my actors all loved it, its so far become my most popular film on my YouTube channel too!
