Work Experience: Art Gallery Conference

We shot a conference that took part in Hartlepool Art Gallery for Hartlepool ARTS. And myself and Craig copeland volunteered to edit the footage into 5 minutes. Over the past week we've been working hard and we think we are almost finished. We'll finish it after the christmas holiays and submit it to the client.

Drama Shoot report

The shoot this week was in my opinion a bit rushed,we started later than I would have liked because the actors didn't arrive until 11.45. We got on location and it began raining really heavy, but we went ahead and shot the outdoor sequence as fast as possible, meaning it’s not as great as it could have been if we took our time, When the rain stopped I suggested capturing more footage but everyone else was happy to move on. The other two scenes went a lot smoother being indoors, though we skipped over a few things in the script and on my shot list. We will have to see what it’s like when we load it onto the edit suite and decide if we need to re-shoot.

1 Week Film Challenge

After we had finished our 1 Day challenge straight after we were given a 1 week challenge so we had more time to plan and do the job more thoroughly. Unfortunately my group left it until the day before to start shooting. I wasnt happy with this one. We had a decent idea at first but on the day Craig had his 'V for Vendetta' mask with him and the film turned into a stupid rip-off of that. Theres a few nice camera angles though (from myself on camera). Take a look below:

Drama Project Update

Over the last couple weeks we have been working on our projects and are now ready to shoot. The camera equipment is booked on 8th December where we will hopefully fit all 3 scenes into one day of shooting.

We have decided our locations, the first scene will take place on a street that Jasmine has found, Scene 2 we will use the Studio Bar, and  3rd we will use our college Lecture theatre. We have had these ready for a while actually, but we have been unable to shoot because we haven't been able to find actors, until now. Charles found 2 people that were up for it and we have taken it since we don't have enough time to pick and choose anymore, any extras will be filled by friends/students who are happy to help.

1 Day Film Challenge

Our tutor decided to drop a surprise challenge to create a short film in 24 hours. The concept was originally a joke from when Chris received a Scottish £5 note we were making jokes about him not being able to spend it anywhere because nobody else wants it. We thought the idea would make a funny film and we went ahead and shot it. I really like how it turned out actually, we couldn't quite get what we wanted due to time limits so its not hilarious. Jaw's Script Task

We were split into groups and given a script. after we filmed we were told it was a scene from JAWS and we compared how different they were to the actual scene. It was fun to do.

Location Drama Project.

Currently our main project we are working on is a Drama (or documentary) Production to be shot on location, I am in a crew with fellow students Dan Ferguson, Jasmine Raine and Charles Keen. We are working on a short film currently named The Good Samaritan. It was Dan's original idea which was chosen by our tutors as one of the strongest idea's to go into production. Dan naturally wanted to write and direct, Jasmine was happy to produce, I said I'd like to work on camera and be editor, and Charles is in charge of sound and lighting.
So far we have our basic story and are still in the planning stage of production, we are still working at fully fleshing out the story and dates to begin shooting and what locations to shoot them at.
This is how the story is going to go:

A Guy (our main character) has just been let go from his job working at  a bank and is spending his final days with his job. One day, he is walking down a street when a man in front of him drops his wallet. Our guy notices this and runs to pick up the wallet and give it back to the man. When he starts shouting to the man, the man begins running away, our guy gives chase. the strange man runs around the corner and when our guy follows, the person is nowhere to be seen. Confused, he looks in the wallet for any clues to who or where this man might be, and inside he finds a note saying "Be at _______(undecided location, maybe a bar or warehouse) in 1 hour."
Our next scene begins at this location, where the guy is alone and confused about what's happening, as the place is eerily empty. he waits and after a short while a new person appears, gives him a phone, and leaves without saying a word. The phone rings so our guy answers, and has a short conversation, where he is invited to another location.
This is where he meets the person who was behind the scheme in person, and it is revealed that he has been watched through several photographs on the wall. He is then taken into a room where other people are sat waiting, our guy joins them, and the leader explains everything. The group are going to rob the bank that our guy works at, our guy was chosen because he worked there and will be able to get the team in an out. the film ends where our guy agrees to help out on this job out of revenge from his redundancy.

Before we can shoot we need to decide and confirm our locations, finalise the script and storyboard, and find our actors..
